I watched Mr. Holland’s Opus this morning for inspiration

Today I taught my first public speaking class and I feel like I can take on the world! But seriously, it was awesome. Being the one expected to fill all the awkward silences will take some getting used to, but I really like it! My students are adorable rockstars and the material is fun and easy to present. This is going to be an awesome six weeks!

  • May your inspirational lines be more inspiring than Mr. Holland's

"Playing music is supposed to be fun. It's about heart, it's about feelings, moving people, and something beautiful, and it's not about notes on a page. I can teach you notes on a page, I can't teach you that other stuff."

  • That does sound fun! I meant to ask you what you thought about the Ukraine v Swiss game. Especially after Svecheko (I don't know how to spell it) passed his pk to the keeper. During the game the teams were pretty evenly matched, but if the wiss can't shoot, I'm glad Ukraine is going.

  • Congratulations on surviving the first class.

You'll get used to teaching. I'll bet you are exhausted.

Good luck this semester. Have fun with them and they'll love you back. I still remember my first class ever.
